Uses

Where gable boxes work best.

  • Takeout and food service. Sandwiches, salads, pastries and kids’ meals carried by hand. Use food-contact board and a grease-resistant liner for oily food — see food boxes.
  • Bakery. Cookies and pastries for carry-out, often with a front window.
  • Events and favors. Weddings, birthdays and corporate events, where the box doubles as a gift bag.
  • Retail gift sets. Small bundles of soaps, candles or snacks that customers carry from the counter.

Gable boxes aren’t built for parcel shipping on their own — if they travel by carrier, put them in a shipping box.

Load

Sizing and load tips.

The handle carries the whole load, so weight matters more than with other cartons. For heavier contents, we move from paperboard to E-flute and reinforce the handle area. Allow headroom between the product and the gable fold so the top closes cleanly — especially with frosted bakes or tall items.
