Materials

The right board for the job — specified, not guessed.

Material is the biggest lever on cost, protection and how the box feels in hand. Every quote names the exact board grade, so you can compare suppliers line for line.

Buyer’s guide

What “custom boxes” actually means — and what drives the price.

A custom box is made to three decisions you control: the structure (how it folds and closes), the material (what it’s made of and how thick it is) and the decoration (print and finishes). Stock boxes fix all three for you. Custom packaging lets you set each one around your product, your shipping method and the price you need to hit.

The four things that move your unit price most

  1. Quantity. Setup work — the cutting die, press make-ready, proofing — is spread across every box in the run. That’s why the price per box at 1,000 units is often a third or less of the price at 100.
  2. Board. Rigid grayboard wrapped in printed paper costs several times more than a folding carton of the same size, because it’s built by hand or semi-automatically rather than folded flat.
  3. Size. More square inches of board means more cost, but the bigger saving is usually on shipping: a box that’s an inch too big in every direction can push a parcel into a higher dimensional weight bracket.
  4. Finishes. Foil, embossing and spot UV each add a process step. One well-placed finish usually does more for shelf impact than three competing ones.

Why us

Why brands switch to us after their first supplier.

Most packaging problems aren’t printing problems. They’re specification problems that show up at the worst moment: a box that’s 3 mm too tight once the insert goes in, a black that prints brown on kraft, a mailer that crushes in the carrier network. Our process is built to catch those before production.

  • Structural check on every order. We review the product dimensions, weight and how it ships, then draw the dieline to suit — free.
  • Prepress by people, not a robot. Your file is checked for bleed, safe zones, low-resolution images, overprint and color mode, and we tell you what we changed.
  • A 3D proof you can share. Approve the look with your team before a single sheet is printed. Physical samples are available when fit really matters.
  • Quotes you can compare. Board grade, print method, finish and lead time are written on the quote, so you know exactly what you’re buying.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for custom boxes?

Most folding carton, mailer and kraft styles start at 50 units. Rigid and magnetic boxes start at 100 because they are partly hand-assembled. Exact minimums depend on style and material, and your quote shows the price at several quantities so you can see where the breaks fall.

How long does production take?

Standard production is 8–10 business days after you approve your proof; rigid boxes take 12–15. Shipping within the contiguous US typically adds 2–5 business days. If you have a launch date, tell us when you request a quote and we will confirm whether it can be met, including rush options.

Do you charge for design, dielines or plates?

Structural design, dielines, artwork checks and 3D proofs are free with your order, and standard styles have no plate or die charges. Fully bespoke structures or new cutting tools may carry a one-off tooling cost, which is always shown on the quote.

Can I get a sample before ordering in bulk?

Yes. A sample kit shows our materials and finishes in hand, and a pre-production sample of your own design lets you check fit and print before the full run. See the sample kit page for what is included.

What file format do you need for artwork?

Print-ready PDF or Adobe Illustrator files with fonts outlined and images at 300 dpi work best. We place your artwork on the dieline for you, so a logo and brand colors are enough to get started.

Do you ship across the USA?

Yes, to any address in the US, including split shipments to more than one warehouse or 3PL. Boxes ship flat to save freight and storage space, and larger orders are palletized.

Not sure which box you need?

Send us the product dimensions and how you ship it. A packaging specialist will recommend a style, a board and a budget-friendly finish — usually the same day.
