Which printing method is right for your run?
The press you print on decides how color looks, how much the first box costs and how consistent reorders will be. We choose the method from your quantity and artwork — and we tell you which one we’ve priced, so you can compare.
| Method | Best for | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Digital | 50–1,000 units, many versions or seasonal designs | No plates, fast setup, photographic detail. Ideal for testing a design before committing to volume. |
| Offset litho | 1,000+ folding cartons and rigid wraps | The sharpest detail and the most accurate color. Lowest unit price once quantities climb. |
| Flexographic | Corrugated shippers and simple 1–3 color designs | Cost-effective on brown and white corrugated board; best with bold graphics rather than fine gradients. |
Color you can rely on
Screens show color in light (RGB); presses print it in ink (CMYK). That’s why a bright on-screen blue can come out dull. If a color is part of your brand identity, give us the Pantone (PMS) reference and we’ll run it as a spot color or match it as closely as CMYK allows — and say which on your proof. Printing on brown kraft board shifts colors warmer, so we’ll suggest a white underlay where accuracy matters.

Five artwork mistakes that cost brands a reprint.
We check every file, but it helps to know what we’re looking for — especially if you’re working with a freelance designer for the first time.
- Text too close to a fold or edge. Keep important text at least 1/8" (3 mm) inside every fold and cut line; die-cutting can shift slightly.
- No bleed. Background color and images must extend 1/8" past the cut line, or you’ll see a white sliver on the edge.
- Low-resolution images. Anything under 300 dpi at print size looks soft. Logos should be vector (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF).
- Rich black for small text. Fine text set in four-color black can blur if the plates register a hair off. Use 100% K for body copy.
- Forgetting the inside. If you’re paying for 4/4 printing, make sure the inside artwork is on the right panel — inside panels are mirrored on the flat dieline.

Frequently asked questions
Can you print on the inside of the box?
Yes. Inside printing is popular on mailers and subscription boxes for a welcome message, pattern or instructions. It adds a second print pass, so it is priced separately on your quote.
Can you match my Pantone color exactly?
On offset and flexo we can run Pantone spot inks for a close match. Digital presses simulate Pantone colors with CMYK, which gets near most shades but not every one — we will flag colors that cannot be matched before you approve the proof.
Will my colors look the same on kraft board?
No — brown kraft absorbs ink and warms every color. Dark colors work well; light and bright colors need a white underlay. We will show the effect on your proof.
What resolution should my images be?
At least 300 dpi at the size they will be printed. Logos and text should be vector artwork so they stay sharp at any size.
What do I need to send for a quote?
The inside dimensions of the box (or the product size), the quantity, and the style you have in mind. Artwork is optional at the quote stage — a logo and brand colors are enough for us to price printing accurately.
